  • Power Engineer Internship (Summer 2018)

    As a Power Electronics System Testing and Verification Engineer Intern you will work with our Product and Solutions teams to evaluate product performance and contribute to verifying compliance with design performance expectations. The process will involve working with multiple teams to create a test plans, perform the testing, and then analyze the data.Testing work will be “hands on” supporting our Solutions team in setting up test systems in IT racks with dual power feeds, programmable load banks, and instrumentation.

    Responsibilites:

    • Work cross-functionally across VPS Teams to develop testing plan and report results
    • Review product specifications and schematics
    • Set up test and measurement equipment to record power quality in real time as well as triggered snap shots of events taking place over one cycle
    • Test and verify power system performance using digital and analog instrumentation

    As a FrontEnd intern, you will be exposed to cutting-edge javascript technologies, such as webpack, react, react-toolbox, sockets, and charting. We deal with massive amounts of data streaming from hardware devices. At VPS we are the leaders in Software Defined Power - we make mission-critical software that directly controls electrical power systems. Our frontend team is small and agile, and we have frequent discussions about frontend architecture, libraries, frameworks, best practices, performance and scalability. Right now we particularly need some help with unit testing. If this sounds exciting to you, you may be the person we’re looking for!

  • Software Testing Internship (Summer 2018)

    As a Software Testing Intern, you will be responsible for setting up software and hardware systems and performing functional testing of the firmware within VPS hardware through external communication via network protocols. You will write tests in Python and automate the testing process. You will also record test results and create status reports based on the findings.

    Responsibilites:

    • Work with the QA team as well as cross-functionally with other teams including Program Management, Development and Solutions
    • Create test cases for compatibility testing
    • Perform functional testing of firmware within ICE hardware through external communication to find compatibility issues
    • Troubleshoot failures
    • Record and publish test results
    • File bugs/issues

    As a Data Science Intern, you will be analyzing data, creating models and algorithms and implementing them in production.

    Responsibilites:

    • Work with the data science team, as well as cross functionally with other teams including developers, product management and QA
    • Analyze power data from data centers
    • Create and validate models for prediction or classification
    • Design algorithms that use these models to control elements of the datacenter
    • Implement these algorithms in production code using functional programming

    Requirements:

    • Hold or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in a numerically demanding field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Economics
    • Significant programming skill (in languages such as Python, Scala, Matlab, Java, R) and the ability to learn new software systems quickly

  • Senior QA Engineer

    Senior QA Engineer will develop test strategies, analyze complex software systems and ensure that VPS software/firmware/hardware work as they should for our users. Senior QA Engineer must be an analytical problem solver with a deep understanding of QA processes, test tools, techniques and defect tracking and management. In addition, Senior QA Engineer will quickly build an in depth understanding and knowledge of the VPS technologies and products. Senior QA Engineer will troubleshoot and isolate defects, providing regular status reports and updates to ensure we maintain the highest quality of our products. Senior QA Engineer should also be experienced working with a variety of teams.

    Responsibilites:

    • Scrutinizes project and process documentation to introduce quality at the early stages of software development life cycle (SDLC)
    • Participates in design meetings to ensure products are being built with a quality foundation
    • Develops metrics for assessing the quality of delivered project, analyzes trends, researches anomalies and summarizes findings
    • Rapidly masters and utilizes leading-edge technologies to innovate creative solutions that did not exist before, and to solve challenging problems
